Metropolia's expertise and insight are creating a lot of interest in Russia and in the Gulf Region. During the spring term 2013, new promising contacts have been established and service promotion agreements signed.
Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Saint-Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SPBCCI) have agreed to cooperate in promoting Metropolia's training and R&D offering in Saint-Petersburg area.

That is why our Agency and the Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a whole are looking forward to setting fruitful cooperation with Metropolia for mutual benefit", says Leyla Kurbanova, Education Program Director of SPBCCI's Agency of International Education Programs.
The non-governmental education organization was established and is patronaged by Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Agency is set up to be a center for business and industry representatives and general public of the city willing to advance their professional and personal competences through various educational seminars, round-tables and short-term courses at home or abroad, or get consulting service which is arranged via Agency as well. Through SPBCCI the Agency reaches 1200 entrepreneurs in Saint-Petersburg area.
Another opening for Metropolia in Russia is a cooperation agreement with Ingria, OJSC Technopark of Saint-Petersburg. Both parties' common objective is to facilitate international cooperation of innovative start-up companies and promotion, development and organizing of professional trainings. The cooperation also includes consulting and other elements of innovative infrastructures in the field of ICT.

Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences' School of ICT and Eduguide for Training and Consulting (Al-Daleel Al Talemi) have recently signed an agreement to collaborate in offering the market of Saudi Arabia practical short-term training programs primarily in the area of Information and Communication Technology. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Mohammed Al-Zahrani, CEO of Eduguide الدليل التعليمي and Dr. Antti Piironen, Director of Helsinki Metropolia UAS's School of ICT.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Zahrani says that this partnership is a strategic choice that will contribute positively to transfer Helsinki Metropolia UAS's ICT experience to the Saudi market for the development of human resources and the rehabilitation of youth competencies to meet the challenges of the knowledge age.
"During the discussions back in Riyadh in May 2013, Mr. Al-Zahrani mentioned that very little efforts have been made to promote the Finnish excellence in apparently diverse fields and sectors, which all emerge from the strong foundation of the Finnish education system. This recently started collaboration will among other initiatives promote Metropolia's expertise and best practices in ICT education and training in Saudi Arabia. Metropolia offering will cover a series of continuous professional development workshops and programs, targeting ICT professionals, academics and various service organizations", says Adil Idrissi Akhelij, Metropolia's Marketing Manager for Gulf Region.
Eduguide (Al-Daleel Al Talemi) is an education consulting and training company based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
