Metropolia Motorsport is hosting this year's Baltic Open Race in Helsinki 8.-11.8.2013. Baltic Open is an international car race in which university students compete against each other with self-prepared formula cars. This year there are 16 teams and more than 30 cars from nine different countries attending the race.
Baltic Open race is held for the tenth time. The first competition was held in September 2003 in Hyvinkää, with only two teams: Stadia Motorsport (now Helsinki Metropolia Motorsport) and Sirius Racing (Luleå University of Technology). The story tells that neither of the team's made it to the finish line. Over the years, the race has become more and more popular and nowadays 20 to 30 cars from all over Europe participate in the race every year.
The competition's opening ceremony will be held at Kansalaistori, next to Kiasma, on Thursday 8.8. at 18.00 - 19.30. Racing cars arrive to the opening ceremony along the Baana at 18.00 and leave at 19.30 the same route. The competition starts on Friday, 9.8. at 10.00 in Tattarisuo go-kart track.
