The very first International Issue of the Journal of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences has just been published. The web publication is totally in English. It gives insight and information about the R&D activities between UASs, other higher education institutions and workplaces.
The publication includes also articles written by professionals of higher education from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and its international partners.
The Vice President of HTW Berlin, professor Matthias Knaut and Metropolia´s Director of Stakeholder Relations, Dr. Tuire Ranta-Meyer are authors on an article concerning strategic partnerships. Their focus is especially on metropolitan areas. In the article they share ideas for co-operation and experiences of co-creating solutions for capital area needs.

Metropolia´s Senior Lecturer, Mrs Ulla Vehkaperä and Seton Hall University´s Associate Professor, Mrs Elizabeth M. Torcivia represent a study how to increase innovations and intercultural understanding in the field of social and health care.

In this issue of Journal of Finnish UAS you can read about ongoing international projects in Finnish UASs. They tell about the phenomena of teaching, learning, studying, researching and developing both theoretical and practical horizons. Several articles are pear reviewed papers from the international conferences.
The UAS Journal focuses on education, research and development activities in the fields of practice-oriented higher education in Finland. The e-publication documents actions, gathers themes, informs on activities and offers a forum for discussion on its Facebook page.
