Orpana’s thesis project Liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry method development for short chain carboxylic acids from aqueous and bio-oil based samples (see English abstract here) was carried out in the Research Analytics Team at the Chemistry Department of Neste Oil Research and Development in Porvoo, Finland. The purpose of the project was to develop a LC-MS method for the determination of short chain carboxylic acids in aqueous and bio-oil based samples. The work was supervised by researcher Jyrki Viidanoja from Neste Oil, and principal lecturer Jukka Niiranen from Metropolia UAS. The thesis got particular notice for its expertise in analytical method development.
