Metropolia and its services for immigrants raised interest at Megarekry recruitment fair in Vantaa

27.10.2017

Megarekry recruitment fair that was held on 26 October 2017 at Flamingo Entertainment Centre in Vantaa brought together job-seekers, employers, organisations and educational institutions. There were about 90 exhibitors and the event was marketed to some 10, 000 Vantaa TE-office job-seekers in addition to other event marketing. Megarekry has been organised since 2014 and it is currently held bi-annually in cooperation with Vantaa employment services, Uusimaa TE-office and Flamingo Enterntainment Centre.

Metropolia participated in Megarekry for the third time with its Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland (SIMHE) services. Metropolia stand interested many visitors who were looking for educational possibilities and immigrants were particularly interested in SIMHE services, study opportunities in Finnish-conducted and English conducted degree programmes and in Open University. Additionally, Metropolia was approached by its alumni, job-seekers looking for possibilities to work at Metropolia and also by organisations and companies wishing to cooperate with Metropolia.

Employers represented fields in which the need for labour force is the most urgent such as construction, health care, staff leasing and property and sanitation companies. Educational institutions included many vocational schools and higher education institutions took part with Laurea University of Applied Sciences in addition to Metropolia.

The event was very lively from the start and visitors were for example able to brush-up their resume at the CV-clinique and have their photo taken by a professional photographer. Such large public events are important to SIMHE-Metropolia as it is possible to meet up with potential customers, create networks with other organisations and educational institutions offering education and services for immigrants and to connect with other meaningful stakeholders.
