Metropolia’s research expertise highly valued

01.11.2017

Principal Lecturer of Industrial Management, Docent Antero Putkiranta has been invited to join a Hungarian-Slovakian-Finnish research team of 15 experts in a top research project Ludovika. The project takes place at the National University of Public Services, which operates in Budapest.

In addition to Antero Putkiranta's expertise, Finnish know-how in the project is represented by Aalto University School of Economics. However, Putkiranta has been the innovator in developing this research project concerning operation management. The preforms of the project have been introduced at conferences (Annual International Society of Operations Management Conference). City of Helsinki is also involved in supporting the project and being an example of the digitalization of public services. The test plan for the project is the production of public services in the city of Budapest.

The focus of the project is in the problematics of digitalisation and process integration. When the services of public sector are digitalized, also the product structure should be viewed and changed, if necessary, to realize the benefits of digitalization.

"The question is, according to the United Services Theory, to study which part of the process of public services should be digitized - and how," says Antero Putkiranta of the goals of the international research project.

"We rely on Antero's versatile and thorough knowledge, from which we have already received a number of impressive displays. We look forward to the cooperation - and we are grateful that Antero is involved in achieving this ambitious project", comments Professor, Program Director Gyula Vastag on Antero Putkiranta’s role in the research team.
