The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a set of quality criteria outlined in the European Higher Education Area. They aim at making higher education degrees and programmes comparable and securing high-quality delivery of well-designed curricula.
Metropolia adheres to the principles of the ECTS, striving to provide top-level education in a transparent and systematic way.
ECTS is a tool that helps to design and deliver study programmes, to evaluate and recognise students’ performance and to support greater student mobility. The system is also student-centered: study programmes, courses, progress of studies and gained skills and competences are described transparently on the website.
As an acknowledgement of the consistent work for quality, the European Commission awarded the ECTS Label to Metropolia University of Applied Sciences for 2013-2016. The ECTS Label is a quality certificate acknowledging that the higher education institution is an open and reliable partner for European and international cooperation. The label is an honourable mention with no monetary reward. Since 2016 there have not been new application rounds for ECTS Labels.
