The School of Civil Engineering and Building Services is a part of the Engineering Faculty at Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. The Faculty is the largest multi-disciplinary Engineering Faculty in Finland, accounting for more than 20% of the Engineering education in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences.
The School of Civil Engineering and Building Services offers five bachelor’s programmes and two Master's programmes, from which Sustainable Building Engineering and Construction and Real Estate Management are taught in English. The SCEBS hosts yearly more than 1 500 degree-seeking students.
We aim to develop and maintain the skills required to face the challenges of our increasingly complex built environment. Our world-class teaching, research and service activities are integrated to support the technical and commercial needs of both industry and society.
Our core competencies are building and infra information modelling, energy efficiency in built environment, renovation, indoor climate and geoinformatics (spatial data).
Due to the Metropolia’s multidisciplinary nature we can easily adapt needed expertise (Industrial Engineering, ICT-Engineering, Welfare and Human Functioning, Health Care and Nursing, Business and Administration, Culture) to our teaching, research and service activities.
Our students are able to gain experience of professional life during their studies due to active engagement in developmental projects and business schemes. The majority of the final year thesis and innovation projects are completed to support the needs of businesses and their innovation projects.
