Pop and Jazz Music Educator (Bachelor’s Degree)

Pop and Jazz Music Educators do not only master their instrument, but can also play in a variety of styles and pass on their learning to their students, and instruct both beginners and more advanced musicians or bands in different styles of popular music and jazz.

Those studying to become teachers undergo teaching practice, and all students learn about typical situations where they appear in front of an audience, in order to become familiar with what awaits them in their work. Students specialise in instrument, voice, or theory teacher studies. Music Educators can work as innovators, experts and leading characters of musical culture in their own environment.

Music Educator students do not only reach a high level of musical professionalism and complete a Bachelor's degree, but also acquire general teacher qualifications (60 ECTS credits), acknowledged by the Finnish Ministry of Education.

One can study for the Pop and Jazz Music Educator's degree in

  • youth education, or
  • continuing higher education.
