The R&D projects the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries serves as a promoter of well-being and community spirit, a driving force of a creative atmosphere and a creator of the future.
At the R&D department of the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries, art and creativity based know-how supports communality, and the daily life of people and its environment. The objective is to make the know-how in culture and creative industries as a part of welfare services and give the people the ability and tools to affect their own lives.
CultureBridge was a development programme joining four cities (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen) in a project aiming to develop new models for broadening the use of music and arts education. This project was financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the State Provincial Office of Southern Finland.
Medios was a cooperation project between Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki City Theatre and m-cult centre for new media culture. Its goal was to promote the social media skills of cultural, educational and welfare actors.
Liikkuvan arjen design ('The Design of the Mobile Everyday') makes design into a pert of our daily lives and promotes the usability of the environment and public services.
Kansalaisnavigointi ('Citizen Navigation') uses multidisciplinary collaboration to create drama-based pertating model that allows residents of the Metropolitan Region to actively participate in and influence the key areas of life.
Musiikki elämään ('Bringing Music Into Our Lives') is a regional development project which pilots a service model based on the cooperation between the third sector, local actors the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. It aims at making use of public cooperation in the effectiveness and reachability of concert activities.
Urban Creativity discusses the role of culture in regional development and looks at the possibilities that the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries has in promoting creativity and multi-voicedness in its immediate surroundings.

Reititin ('Router') creates new ways of bringing out Master's and Bachelor's Theses and other expertise with the help of social media. These produce seamless cooperation between the student, working life and the educational institute, and support the graduation and employment of the student.
Cultural Manager 2020 predicts the changes in cultural management and the challenges that they bring to the know-how of the producer. The project uses the signal wiki to collect data and make notes about the recent signals from the cultural management field.
The Voimaa project operates in the field of migration, education and working life in Southern Finland. It has three central goals: Firstly to find new tools for immigrants applying for higher education, secondly to plan and pilot courses for immigrant employees in working life, and thirdly to complete a survey for employers of Helsinki Metropolitan Area concerning immigrant employees and recruiting.
Vyyhti ('Tangle') develops the network-like working methods of micro-entrepreneurship and the operating models of communal leadership at theculture field. In addition, it looks at the transfers of learning carried out in the project, cooperating with the creative industries and participants from the third sector.
