The Welfare and Human Functioning unit is a learning community that generates well-being in versatile ways. Its activities are participatory and based on working with other disciplines.
At the Welfare and Human Functioning unit, students can study in ten different degree programmes and, moreover, complete a Master's degree in rehabilitation or social services and professional specialisation studies.The unit also has an international Social Services degree programme, which is taught in English.In addition, open university of applied sciences studies can also be taken in English.
Our faculty’s students gain strong competence in the welfare sector, both on the national and international level, and support for continuously developing their skills throughout their career.Our unit offers a multidisciplinary learning environment where students can combine their studies with other disciplines and participate in developing the field interactively with workplaces.
International know-how in the area of welfare and human functioning is a key focal point in our operations.We work in cooperation with over 60 foreign partners both in teaching and research, development and innovation activities.We have ongoing international projects in the areas of learning operations, rehabilitation competence, working with the elderly, multiculturalism and innovation operations, for example.
Our unit works in close cooperation with workplaces and customers of the social services and health care sectors.The objective is to generate activities combining knowledge that is used to modernise practices at workplaces with competence in the interaction between the university of applied sciences and working life.The focus in partnerships with workplaces is on the customer of welfare services.
