In addition to student exchange and student work placements, teacher/expert exchanges are important forms of international co-operation, including also exchanges for non-teaching staff.
Teacher exchange helps the students at the host institution to learn from experts of their field. From the teachers’ point of view, teacher exchange does not only have an effect on the mobile and host teachers and their professional development, but good practices and results can be spread widely. Multicultural teaching can improve pedagogical skills, and vice versa: good pedagogical skills also contribute to working in a multicultural environment.
European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme and its sub-programme Erasmus encourages and supports teaching staff mobility. Other staff training mobility is also supported by the Erasmus Programme.
Metropolia welcomed in 2010 over 150 international teachers and non-teaching staff, including Erasmus staff exchanges. If you are interested in staff exchange to Metropolia or interested in inviting a teacher from Metropolia to your institution, please visit the web pages of Metropolia’s Degree Programmes. You will find more about the tuition of the Degree Programme as well as the contact persons.
