Using Metropolia Nelli ends December the 31st 2016

The Nelli service, maintained by the National Library in Finland, and all Nelli portals used by Finnish libraries and other organizations will be terminated. Metropolia Nelli-portal have been replaced with MetCat and LibGuides services.

If you have not used Nelli portal recently, you do not have to react to this message. These instructions are for you, if you have used the Nelli portal and want to

• transfer the data you have recorded in the service onto your own computer.
• know which solutions will replace them.

How do I get my saved materials out of Nelli?

1. Go to the e-shelf
2. Mark all as a bookcase records
3. Click Save or send selected records
4. Select the format you want
5. Select Save and save the file to the desired location

My e-journals

1. Go to My e-journals
2. Use your browser's save function (often in the menu File -> Save or File -> Save) to save the journals in HTML format on your computer
Personal data (limitation: the names of data may be collected, but the links do not work anymore after the closure of the Nelli portal)
My Databases (please note: you can save the titles of your databases, but the links to the databases will no longer work once the Nelli portal have been shut down)
1. Go to My Databases (or Omat aineistot)
2. Select the group of databases
3. Move your cursor to the group of selected databases, choose “Select All” from the right-click menu and copy them.
4. Paste the group of databases into a document and save it on your computer.
5. Repeat stages 2–4 for all database groups you want to save.

Where can I find articles and other materials in the future?

Metropolia Nelli-portal have been replaced with MetCat and LibGuides services.
The search function in MetCat is more simple than in Nelli as restrictions and definitions are not required before the search. Just type in your search term and limit your search results afterwards. The main databases in different subject areas are grouped more illustrative in Libguides than in Nelli.

International, scientific articles can be found in a separate article search in MetCat. It covers a large part of the materials that used to be found with Nelli's multi-search. MetCat article search is simpler and faster to use, but the coverage is not exactly the same as Nelli's multi-search. If necessary, make additional article searches in article databases own search interfaces. Links to article databases you will find from LibGuides.
