Pop and Jazz Music Degree Programme graduates become many types of experts in popular music and jazz. Students can specialise in pop, jazz, r & b and rock, and receive professional qualifications as teachers of an instrument or music theory, or as musicians, music producers/technologists or composer-arrangers.
The graduates are skilled in performing, theory and modern technology, and are able to develop their professional skills and knowledge and to enrich Finnish and international popular music and jazz scenes with their creative expertise.
At the Pop and Jazz Music Degree Programme, one can study voice, saxophone, flute, clarinet, brass or string instruments, guitar, piano, electric keyboards, accordeon, electric or acoustic bass, drums, or pecussion as main instrument. Those who specialise in music production/technology can also study computer music software or sound studio as main instrument; nevertheless, they must possess adequate command of one "traditional" instrument (see above) or voice.
