Open Studies give students a good opportunity to

- get familiar with a new professional field
- complete degree programme courses before becoming a full time student
Completed courses taken at the Helsinki Metropolia Open University of Applied Sciences can compensate courses of a Degree Programme if the student becomes a degree student later.
The open university students are accepted as students in that order their enrolments are received.
Open studies are not considered as full-time studies. Therefore, the students are not entitled to student aid or other benefits such as student rates for health services, train or bus tickets or meals at student cafes.
