Instructions for requesting a rectification of a decision concerning student selections

Applicants for admission may apply to Metropolia’s Legal Protection Committee for rectification of a decision concerning student selections within 14 days of the results of the selections being made public. When publishing the selection results, the university of applied sciences must inform the applicants of how they can find out about the application of the selection criteria in their case and how they can appeal the selection. Metropolia’s Admission Services (hakijapalvelut@metropolia.fi) offers additional information concerning appealing against a decision. The admission results may not be changed to the detriment of any other admitted person in consequence of the rectification request.

Applicants have a further right of appeal to the Helsinki administrative court, which is the highest court of appeal.

The documents concerning the request for rectification may be submitted, at the sender's own risk, by post or through a courier. Any delays due to the postal service will not eliminate the sender's responsibility to submit the documents on time.

The request for rectification must state the following:

  • The name, profession, domicile and postal address of the person requesting rectification;
  • the decision for which rectification is requested and the date on which this decision was received;
  • the extent to which the decision is appealed against and the requested changes to the decision;
  • grounds for the request;
  • signature. If the person requesting rectification has authorised a representative to lodge the request on his or her behalf, the representative's signature is sufficient. 

The request for rectification must be personally signed by the person requesting rectification or the person who drafted the document. If the letter of request has been signed only by its drafter, the name, domicile and postal address of the drafter must also be stated.
