Structure of Studies
The degree has an extent of the 60 ECTS credits and the duration is one year of studies including advanced-level professional studies, as well as project management and methodological studies (total 30 ECTS) in Metropolia; and second year reserved for the Master's Thesis (30 ECTS).
Studies are arranged as one afternoon and two evenings of contact teaching / week in Metropolia (Helsinki). Master's Thesis is normally done in students own work place / company.

Career Prospects
The goal is to provide students with the latest knowledge in the field of creating and transferring Multimedia content (images, audio and video) in various formats, in various kinds of networks including Fixed IP Networks, 3G/LTE networks, Broadband wireless networks such as Wimax and Broadcast networks like DVB-T2. After the studies the graduate will have an ability to develop new solutions and solve complex problems in the field of Multimedia and new high speed fixed / mobile networking.

A new Master in Information Technology - Juha Heikkinen 
My target was to get a Master’s Degree - and I made it! Says Juha Heikkinen, who is graduating in April from Metropolia Multimedia Communications Master’s Programme.
Juha appreciates especially the overall structure of the program, where different technologies were studied and at the end there was a good overview of all the areas of modern mobile multimedia communications. Juha did his Master’s Thesis at Nokia Siemens Networks as a part of a project; this was a good way to combine studies and work.
