The English language test is compulsory for applicants who are not citizens of EU/EEA countries unless the applicant is applying with a Finnish qualification.
The English language test will be arranged on 7 June 2010 in Finland. It is not possible to take the English language test abroad.
Applicants who are required to take the English language test can however get an exemption from it by providing one of the following English language qualifications to the Admissions Office by 9 April 2010 at 4.15 p.m. Finnish time (only the qualifications below can be accepted):
- IELTS, minimum score academic level 6.0 (valid for 2 years)

TOEFL score results are only accepted directly from the Educational Testing Service (Metropolia’s TOEFL code is 3804) but with the other qualification options a plain photocopy sent by the applicant is enough.
Student Selection
The student selection will be based on:
- English language test (pass/fail)
- Applicant’s previous degree (max 50 points)
- Amount of relevant work experience (max 40 points)
- Presentation, which the applicant has attached with the application (max 10 points)
If an applicant fails the English language test he/she cannot get admitted regardless of his/her admission points.
The results of the student selection will be published approximately at the end of June 2010.
