Eligibility Requirements

There are three requirements that applicants must fulfil in order to be eligible to apply:

  1. Degree/qualification requirement:

    Applicants must have a higher (tertiary) education degree e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. Only final certificates will be accepted.

  2. Basic knowledge requirement:

    Applicants must have adequate basic knowledge (studies and/or work experience) in the relevant field and level (Bachelor of Engineering and/or Industrial Management).

  3. Work experience requirement:

    Applicants must have minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience gained after the higher education degree awarding day by 31 July 2010.

    However, applicants who have completed the Finnish college / higher vocational engineering degree (insinööri, opistoaste/ammatillinen korkea-aste) before completing the higher education degree can count their work experience from the day they were awarded the Finnish college / higher vocational engineering degree.

Application

The application period will begin on 1 March 2010 and end on 9 April 2010 at 4.15 p.m. Finnish time (+2 hrs GMT).

The application including all the required attachments (mentioned below) must be delivered to the following address by the end of the application period:

Applicants must prove their eligibility with certificate copies attached to the application:

  • Copies of the higher (tertiary) education degree certificate and transcripts proving that the applicant has the required level degree.

  • Copies of the official work certificates proving that the applicant has the required three years of relevant work experience gained after the higher education degree awarding day by 31 July 2010 (please note that the work certificates must state the exact starting and ending date of the employment and a short work description).

  • Copies of other certificates if necessary for proving that the applicant has the required basic knowledge (studies and/or work experience) from relevant field and level

  • Copies of official translations if the original certificates are not in English, Finnish or Swedish language (must contain translator’s signature and stamp).

Applications including all the required attachments must be sent by post or delivered in person or through a representative to the Admissions Office so that they will arrive by 9 April 2010 at 4.15 p.m. Finnish time. Late applications will not be accepted. It is not possible to send applications via fax or email.

Applications and/or certificate copies will not be returned to the applicants.

Entrance Examination

Applicants who have proved their eligibility in the required way will be invited to the entrance examination.

Applicants who fail to prove their eligibility in the required way (e.g. have note delivered all the required certificate copies to the Admissions Office by the deadline) will not be invited to the entrance examination and their applications will be automatically rejected.

The Industrial Management entrance examination will be held on 8 June 2010 in Finland. It is not possible to take the entrance examination abroad.

The entrance examination includes a written part and an interview, which share is important. The literature for the entrance examination:

  2. Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson: Strategic Management, Competitiveness and Globalization: Concepts and Cases

  3. Kotler, Keller: Marketing Management 12e

Applicants who have completed the corresponding Specialisation Studies (full extent) conducted in English at EVTEK, Stadia or Metropolia can apply for an exemption from the entrance examination. Applicants apply for the exemption by contacting the Degree Programme before the entrance examination. The exemption decision will be made by the Degree Programme based on applicant’s success in the Specialisation Studies.

Student Selection

Applicants must pass all parts of the entrance examination in order to get admitted. Other entrance examinations will not be accepted.

Student selections will be made based on the entrance examination results. Results of the student selection will be published approximately at the end of June 2010.

The original certificates will be checked at the beginning of studies and the student selection is conditional until this has been completed.
