Admission Criteria
The Rectors' Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences has given a Recommendation on Student Admission Criteria (pdf) for the Bachelor’s Degree programmes in the joint application system. Polytechnics/universities of applied sciences decide their own student admission criteria based on the recommendation.
The recommendation is applied to Metropolia’s Degree Programme in Environmental Engineering with the following exception:
- School performance points will not be considered but the student selections will be made solely on the basis of entrance examination results.

The entrance examination will be arranged in Brazil (Brazil), Bulgaria (Sofia), Canada (Vancouver and Toronto), China (Deyang, Chengdu, Tianjin, Wuhan, Peking, Shanghai and Nanchang), Estonia (Tallinn), Germany (Berlin), Hungary (Budabest), India (New Delhi), Kenya (Nairobi), Kosova (Pristina), Latvia (Riga), Mexico (Monterrey), Moldova (Chisinau), Poland (Warsaw), Romania (Cluj Napoca), Russia (St. Petersburg and Moscow), South Africa (Cape Town), Thailand (Bangkok), Turkey (Istanbul) and Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City). |

Exam content |
The entrance examination includes a mathematics and physics test as well as a logical deduction skills test. All tests will be conducted in English. |

Admission requirements |
Student selections will be made based on the entrance examination results only. Applicants must pass all parts of the entrance examination in order to get admitted. |
Foreign applicants please note!
One of the following English language qualifications is required from applicants who are non-EU/EEA citizens and not applying with a qualification completed in Finland (only the qualifications below will be accepted):
- IELTS, minimum score academic level 6,0
- TOEFL, minimum score 550 paper-based test/ 79-80 internet-based test
- Finnish National Certificate of Language Proficiency minimum skills level 4 in English
Both TOEFL and IELTS test results are valid for two years. TOEFL score results are only accepted directly from the Educational Testing Service. Metropolia’s TOEFL code is 3804.
Upper secondary level school education in English completed in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completed in English in one of these countries is also accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills. Education completed outside the above-mentioned countries will not be accepted under any circumstances (e.g. British education completed in Nigeria will not be accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills as the education has not been completed in Great Britain but in Nigeria).
