Metropolia's clothing and fashion students are designing and commissioning a range of clothes for a Finnish firm, Team Place. It will be launched at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) 11–14 February 2010.
Copenhagen Fashion Week is one of Europe's most prestigious fashion events, incorporating three ready-to-wear clothing fairs: Gallery, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair and CPH Vision.
This is the first collection by Metropolia students that is launched at a fair outside Finland. Cooperation with the students inspired Team Place to reach out for new and bigger markets, hoping to attract interest among foreign buyers.
The target group for the autumn–winter 2010–11 collection consists of active young women who value a healthy lifestyle and seek physical challenges.
Metropolia's clothing and fashion students are taught about all aspects of the trade, but the main focus is on the management of design, quality and production, not forgetting brands, trends and the business aspects. All these are rolled together in joint projects with businesses.
Operating from Helsinki for half a century now, Team Place Oy is a Finnish family business specialising in sports clothes. They are now seeking to expand abroad and doing so through a joint project with the students.
