Textile Design students are participating 12th time to the world’s biggest fair of home and public space interior design, Heimtextil, in Frankfurt, Germany from 9th to 12th January 2018. This year there are 16 different schools from all around the world participating the Campus Exhibition.
In year 2018 Campus Exhibition theme is “Meeting Sharing Places”. Metropolia’s 3rd year Textile Design students have interpreted the theme by creating Urban Forest concept, which gives the visitors a chance to take part and offers them a comprehensive experience.
Touch, feel, see and connect were the keywords for creating the Urban Forest concept. Material experiments were the starting point and there was an intention to find new surfaces and materials.
The Urban Forest concept is about combining two different worlds. One is a display, which the guests can interact with. As a contrast, there will be a textile installation, which will bring the nature’s presence to the department. As a whole the space will invite the guests to ponder their mental landscapes and at the same time to take a quiet moment from the hectic fair surroundings.
The Campus Exhibition is sponsored by Best of Design organization to support the young designers and design education. The aim of this occasion is to strengthen collaboration between European design colleges and to create opportunities for students to get acquainted with international textile industry.
