Commencing your studies

Your studies begin with Orientation Day on Thursday 22 August 2019 at 9.00 o'clock at the Myyrmäki campus. The day starts with a registration at the main lobby of the campus.

We expect, and strongly recommend, every new student to take part in the Orientation Days. You will receive essential information and advice concerning your studies in Metropolia. The day will also be a good opportunity for you to meet your fellow students. You will also enroll to your courses during the orientation day.

If you know that you won't be able to participate the orientation day, please contact the programme coordinator beforehand.

Study schedule

Studies will start according to the schedules on Monday 26 August 2019. The autumn semester ends on 20 December.

We strongly advise you to commence your studies in time in August 2019 as the courses are offered only once a year. Studies during the 1st and 2nd year are tightly connected to each other and almost all compulsory Core Competence Studies and Professional Studies are to be undertaken during the 1st and 2nd study years.

You will receive your schedule for the first and second period (autumn semester) in the Orientation day.

The curriculum of the Degree Programme in Electronics can be found on Metropolia Study Guide

Arrangements before studies

Please start all the necessary arrangements (such as residence permit, housing, insurance etc.) as soon as possible after receiving the acceptance letter, so that you are able to commence your studies in August 2019.

There is a shortage of student accommodation in the Helsinki Metropolitan area, so it is very important to start arranging the housing right away. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is not able to offer any student accommodation. It is student’s responsibility to find an accommodation from Helsinki Metropolitan Area for the period of their studies.

Recognition of prior learning

If you have previously completed more than 30 ECTS higher education studies in Electronics or other engineering degree, please contact the programme coordinator before the orientation day. More information about recognition of prior learning will be provided during the orientation day.
