Material for New Degree Students: European Business Administration, full-time studies

You have been accepted to the EUROPEAN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (EBA) DEGREE PROGRAMME! We are looking forward to having you as our student at Metropolia Business School! Below you can find more information about our programme:

Double Degree

Providing that you satisfactorily meet the degree requirements you will be awarded the following upon graduation:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree
from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
  • Bachelor’s degree
from a partner university  (the exact title depends on which partner’s double degree programme you will follow during the 3rd year of studies)

Study Schedule

Your EBA degree programme studies will start on 19 August 2019 and end on 31 July 2023. The first academic year is 19 August 2019 – 15 May 2020. The first and second year of studies will be held at Metropolia Business School, where you follow a set programme.

In your third year, you will study full time at one of our partner universities for which you will be selected during your second year of studies. Please remember that the EBA programme is a double degree programme and students are obliged to complete one year of studies abroad. While a regular BBA degree programme lasts for 3.5 years (210 ECTS), this is a four-year programme with 240 ECTS so that requirements of two institutions can be met with.

Metropolia Orientation Days

Metropolia Business School will hold orientation days for all new international degree programme students 19-21 August 2019 at  Myyrmäki campus (Leiritie 1, Vantaa)

Orientation days will start on Monday at 10:00.

It is imperative that you attend these orientation days. You can expect all three orientation days to be over at 16:00 at the latest.

You will receive essential study information and advice, as well as study certificates. The days will also offer a great opportunity for you to meet your fellow students. Lectures will begin on 26 August 2019.

Please note that selection is pending until your diplomas have been checked. Metropolia has the right to withdraw selection if an applicant has given false information.

Student Funding

If you intend to apply for Finnish Government student funding you should contact the funding organisation known as Kelan Opintotukikeskus. Please note that non-citizens of Finland can get financial aid for studies in Finland if they live in Finland on a permanent basis for a purpose other than studying. More information can be found at KELA's web pages

The fact that the EBA degree programme is 30 ECTS (= one semester) longer does not bring you additional financial benefits compared to an ordinary BBA degree. In other words, according to Kela, the extent of the degree programme is 210 ECTS. In terms of student loan compensation, for example, you are expected to complete the required 240 ECTS in four years.

Scholarships and Tuition Fees for non-EU/EEA Students

In December 2015, the Finnish Parliament decided to impose tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens. The fees now apply to non-EU/EEA degree students who start their studies in English taught Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes. Metropolia UAS offers a scholarship system for non-EU/EEA students. More information on scholarships

Please note that during the month of July Metropolia is closed. Work begins again on Monday 12th August. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Study Coordinator Ms. Ann-Sofie Shevlane , from that date onwards.

On behalf of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, I am pleased to welcome you to the European Business Administration Programme.
