Welcome to Helsinki XR Center!

Helsinki XR Center (HXRC) is the leading RDI and collaboration platform in the Nordics focused on extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies.

The center supports the growth of the ecosystem both in Finland and internationally by organizing events and workshops, maintaining a state-of-the-art XR Showroom equipped with the latest technology, and providing a growth platform for early-stage entrepreneurs. It brings together startups, students, companies, and communities to network, innovate solutions, and shape new realities. Annually, Helsinki XR Center participates in numerous national and international research projects.

Since 2019, Helsinki XR Center has supported more than 50 startup teams, collaborated with over 100 organizations, and welcomed hundreds of visitors from around the world to its events and showroom excursions.

Helsinki XR Center welcomes all educational institutions, companies, and organizations interested in the fascinating world of emerging technologies.

Our facilities

Helsinki XR Center is located on the Arabia Creative Campus, on the third and fourth floors of the Arabia135 building. The center is part of Metropolia’s Emerging Technologies and Entrepreneurship innovation hub and RDI activities.

Covering approximately 1,000 square meters, the facilities provide an excellent environment for events and multidisciplinary collaboration. The center also features an XR Showroom, where visitors can explore the latest technological solutions, as well as the Immersive Sustainability Lab — an exhibition space and testbed utilizing emerging technologies to support public sector projects focused on sustainability.

HXRC Showroom

Our showroom features a wide range of the latest emerging technology devices and applications, from VR headsets to smart glasses. The showroom is powered by the Finnish AI Region (FAIR EDIH) project, co-funded by the European Union.

Developer Hub

Developer Hub is a free community for small businesses and early-stage startups in the Helsinki metropolitan area developing solutions based on emerging technologies. As a member, you gain access to up-to-date devices, inspiring facilities, a multidisciplinary community, and receive professional support throughout your entrepreneurial journey.

Our experts design and deliver a wide range of XR projects, from early-stage pilots to fully developed solutions. The process includes a clear project plan and timeline, testing with real devices, and support for deploying the final solution. The project was carried out in collaboration with the City of Espoo and Cluster Japan as part of the AIStart project.

Experience the beauty of Finnish nature from anywhere in the world!

As part of the Virtual Nature project, we developed a virtual simulator that allows tourists and nature enthusiasts to explore the beauty of Finland’s natural landscapes from anywhere in the world. Set in Nuuksio National Park, the experience aims to lower the threshold for exploring nature by providing a safe and easily accessible first encounter with the Finnish outdoors.

Explore the Finnair Airbus A350 cockpit in virtual reality!

As part of the XR-SPACE project, we developed a VR training solution in collaboration with Finnair Flight Academy. The solution helps pilot students familiarize themselves with the Airbus A350 cockpit before entering full simulator sessions, offering an accessible way to practice the aircraft’s pre-flight inspection procedures in an immersive environment.
