Graduates' and Students' Stories

"When I started my studies in Master’s program in Logistics Management, I had four years of work experience as a purchaser within field of industrial business.  My motivation was to obtain professional knowledge and skills for my future career prospects.

The best thing about my studies in this program is definitely the well scheduled and high quality lectures, guest lecturer visits and practical tasks. A relatively small size of the Logistics group and the way how lecturers share their great knowledge and experience make, from my opinion, an essential component of success in my degree studies and in getting new knowledge for career development.

Support from lecturers and program management, given both inside and outside the classroom, is brilliant. It absolutely helps to stay on track within the tight schedule and manage both, full work hours and studies".

"After graduation as a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in logistics, I’ve been working with logistics in various companies and positions. I felt that I need to update my competences. As Metropolia is a convenient location for me, I decided to check the offerings and Logistics Management specialization rang the bell with me. Curriculum was interesting regarding my own targets and, most importantly, it was designed to do in parallel with a full-time job. Also, the studies are done together with other logistics professionals, and the staff is doctor-level people with wide experience in working life. So, the examples during the lectures are not academic theories but real-life stories.

Compared to other Master’s programs, this program is very intense, as you have only the autumn for the courses and the spring for the Master’s thesis. But if you are ready to invest time and effort over a short time, this program is very rewarding and an outstanding opportunity to network with other professionals".

"I am so happy and excited to participate in the IM Master's program. Compact program package combines own learning, work with the experienced teachers, and networking with other students  - to form a solid roadmap to your graduation path. The program offers a journey which is closely linked to real work life. Program’s high quality and performance are ensured by the faculty which has experience from both, the business and academic worlds. Various guest speakers from companies, IM graduates, and recognized academic lecturers provide experience and insights into the latest hot business topics and technologies. This knowledge helps to create own personal know-how, as well as helps to build competitive advantage to your company.

I am most impressed about the people in the program who share their knowledge, and give the students support and sincerity, flavored with a great sense of humour".

"I have over 10 years of work experience since my graduation from the University of Applied Science in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In those 10 years the logistics world has changed a lot. Knowing that in the coming 10 years even more changes are coming, I decided to upgrade my knowledge and competences.
Metropolia was the right institute for me, as where they offered an International Master’s program. This program contains one year of intensive studies, company visits and discussions, done alongside a full-time job. For me, the most interesting fact about this Master’s program is that most of the teachers have experiences from the working life. This means we don’t learn theory from a book, but from real examples from the real world. These real examples make courses more interesting and offer place for discussions. If you choose this study, you need to be ready to invest time from your personal life, but it will pay off with a new title and new chances in your professional life."

"After my graduation from a Logistics management Bachelor's program, I have been working in the logistics field for over 10 years, also in different countries. When I came across this program, I felt it is the time to move forward and develop myself further. The program turned out to be so well-planned, that all it needs from a student is his/her personal commitment. There are plenty of assignments that keep us busy, but we are never left alone. The faculty members are always with us, and they pour all their hearts into the program and give us excellent support whenever we need. Although a 9-month Master’s program sounds impossible, they make it possible for us. This journey is short and definitely not easy. It requires commitment, real efforts and a little bit of sisu!  But the results are rewarding".

"Logistics Master’s Program widened my perspective of logistics. I have been working with in-house logistics, and this Program gave me a perspective on what happens around, for instance, in global supply chains and management strategy. These concepts are highly applicable in my current work.  Logistics Master’s has a tight schedule, but it is well planned and managed. It has a project-like structure which helps in organizing your studies. Program has a good team of teachers who are experts in their field and know how to get the point across to the students! In addition, all the teachers and students stay together throughout the year. This gives you a feeling that completing this program is a team work".
