Career Boost for Accounting is designed for professionals who want to gain an understanding of Finnish Accounting Standards (FAS), update their knowledge of financial and management accounting in line with Finnish business practices, and become familiar with the Finnish working environment and its professional expectations.

During the studies, one will develop practical skills in bookkeeping, financial statements, taxation and payroll administration in accordance with Finnish practices. One will also learn to prepare and analyse financial information, including budgets, reports, performance indicators, cost calculations and profitability analyses.

The Career Boost Accounting studies introduces business intelligence and analytics tools that can be used to support decision-making and develop effective business solutions. Integrated Finnish language studies will strengthen your ability to communicate in accounting and finance-related professional contexts.

After completing the studies, you will be better prepared for roles such as accountant, payroll specialist, controller, financial analyst, profitability consultant or financial manager in Finland.

Mode of delivery, structure and timing

• Language of tuition: Finnish
• Duration: From January 11th until 13th May 2027 (Monday-Friday at 9 am - 4 pm)
• Extent: 40 ECTS credits
• Location: Campus Myllypuro, Myllypurontie 1, Vantaa.
• Seats available: 30
• Courses are free of charge

Courses

Career Boost Programme in Business Accounting consists of 40 ECTS that includes:

• Business accounting (10 ECTS)
• Management accounting (5 ECTS)
• Business analytics and tools (10 ECTS)
• Professional Growth and Competences (5 ECTS)
• Professional Finnish (10 ECTS)

Selection criteria

• A higher education degree in business or similar from abroad
• Native language other than Finnish, Swedish or Sami
• Language requirement: min. B1 level in Finnish
• Work experience and independent learning of business administration is an asset
• Ability to take initiative and learn independently and interest in the thematic area of business administration
• Motivated to develop your skills and find employment in the Finnish job market in your field of expertise

During the Career Boost - accounting studies, you will be taught by business professionals in:

During the Career Boost accounting studies, you will study alongside other highly educated accounting and finance professionals who speak Finnish as a second language. Career Boost accounting will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in specialist roles in financial administration in Finland, including positions such as accountant, payroll specialist, controller or business analyst.

During the programme, you will learn to:

• find and use information on Finnish legislation
• prepare tax returns and financial statements in according to Finnish Accounting Standards (FAS)
• record accounting transactions
• use accounting software (Procountor)
• interpret financial statements
• prepare budgets and cost calculations
• analyse data (Power Bi)
• automate manual tasks (Power Automate) and
• create your own business applications (Power App)
