Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics LOGY’s Procurement Forum’s Executive Committee chose Metropolia’s graduate’s Chengjing Jounio’s thesis as the Procurement Thesis of the Year in UAS-series. University series award was won by Tuukka Kulha from Lappeenranta University of Technology. The theses were rewarded in Vantaa 24.9. UAS-series prize was 500 euros.
Chengjing Jounio is a graduate from Metropolia Business School’s European Management -programme. She graduated as a Bachelor of Business Administration in spring of 2014. The subject of her thesis is Supplier Selection Based on AHP Method - Supplier from China for Suomen Koristetuonti. Thesis' supervisor, lecturer Kaija Haapasalo from Metropolia comments the following on the thesis:
"Chengjing Jounio has been able to combine theory and practice very well in the thesis work. The work is innovative and opens up new possibilities and ways for applying a theoretical model. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods have been used, and the work is at the same time practical, which is the nature of the thesis in Universities of Applied Sciences. The work is a good and logical entity and demonstrates familiarity with the subject and the ability to apply theory to practice.”
Procurement Forum’s Executive Committee commented on the work as concrete and useful for the case company. The award criteria include thesis’ grade and the time spent into the work, topic’s extensiveness and comprehensiveness, as well as the novelty value and usefulness in developing the industry.
“It was an honor to receive the award. Not only a great recognition, but the award is also a good recommendation letter for later career or for advancing my study. The whole bachelor programme's learning experience offered me a solid base to write my thesis. I also received great advice from my supervisor, Kaija Haapasalo. It turned out that hard work achieved good results. I am very satisfied with the whole working process”, tells Chengjing Jounio.
