Changing the world through encounters – fundraising campaign launched

Metropolia has launched its fundraising campaign. We are inviting our partners to join us in encounters that speed up renewal in society, changing the world around us. Our campaign theme is “Meaningful encounters that change the world”. These meaningful encounters will be created through the cooperation of 16,000 students, staff and partners.

The campaign, based on students' success stories and work placement projects, will be advertised primarily especially on the website and on social media. The online campaign was designed and executed by Valovirta, the media office of Metropolia's students, together with Kreab, a communications consultancy.

Fundraising presents a new opportunity

The government will subsidise universities of applied sciences (UASs) with 24 million euros in matching funds, of which each UAS may receive a maximum of 4 million euros. The matching funds will be allocated in proportion to private funding raised by the UASs. The period for raising funds that will be matched by the government ends at the close of 2018.

“We have a need to find new sources of funding to strengthen and diversify our operations. Fundraising from the private sector and the government matching funds allocated on its basis are one way to improve our finances,” says Simo Mustila, Director of Finance and Administration and Deputy CEO at Metropolia.
