Study objectives

Metropolia’s Physiotherapy degree programme aims to train skilled and innovative physiotherapists in a manner in which they develop their own work for the diverse and unpredicted needs of the changing society. The topical themes challenge professionals to continuously learn and reform their operating methods.

In accordance with the needs of the social, health and rehabilitation services, the studies emphasise holistic learning and skills for multidisciplinary collaboration, which is based on client understanding and the active inclusion of clients.

Study contents

The programme consists of 1-2 years of studies based on recognition of prior physiotherapy diploma or bachelor´s degree, minimum of 3 three years. Completing the degree requires full-time study and participation. Teaching is mainly during the daytime.

Recognition of prior learning (eRPL); prior physiotherapy diploma or bachelor´s degree is considered for the personal study plan (PSP).The programme consists of 1-2 years of studies based on recognition of prior physiotherapy diploma or bachelor´s degree, minimum of 3 three years. Completing the degree requires full-time study and participation. Teaching is mainly during the daytime.

Physiotherapy degree programme includes training in applied exercise and aquatic therapy as well as rescue from water. Basic swimming skills including basic diving skills are required for the studies.

Qualification

Only certified professionals who have completed the appropriate degree may work as a physiotherapist. Once students have completed their degree, they can apply to Valvira, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, for the right to practice their profession.

Annual tuition fee

  • 11 000 € for students, whose right of study starts after 31 July 2025
  • 11 500 for students, whose right of study starts after 31 July 2027.

How to start Physiotherapy top-up studies?

Congratulations on your study place. Welcome to start your Bachelor of Health Care, Physiotherapy, full-time studies in Physiotherapy top-up degree programme, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Starting date and time: August 17th, 2026 (17.8.2026)

If you are in Finland: at 10 am (10:00) Myllypuro Campus

The tutor teacher will meet you on August 17th, 2026 at 10 am (10:00) at the lobby of building C, Myllypuro Campus. Bring a card with a chip with you (not a debit/credit card) which you can register as a campus key card.

If you are not in Finland: at 11.30 am (local time in Finland) in Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to the email address you provided closer to the starting day of the studies. Please make sure that you´ll have a camera and audio connection and be punctual for the Zoom meeting.
