Career Monitoring Survey for Metropolia Alumni Who Graduated in 2021 to Be Conducted in October–November

Published on:

The nationwide Career Monitoring Survey will once again be conducted in October and November 2026. This year, all alumni across Finland who completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at a university of applied sciences in 2021 will be invited to participate. The survey provides valuable information on graduates’ employment, career paths and the relevance of their degree in working life five years after graduation.

For Metropolia alumni, the Career Monitoring Survey is an opportunity to share how well the skills and competencies gained during their studies have met the needs of working life and how their careers have developed since graduation.

The responses are used to develop education at Metropolia, while also providing valuable information for current students and future applicants. The results help us understand, for example, the types of positions our graduates move into and how well they are able to apply the competencies gained during their studies in working life.

Previous Survey Shows Strong Employment Outcomes

The results of the previous Career Monitoring Survey, published in spring 2026, show that Metropolia graduates are in a strong position in the labour market five years after graduation.

More than 90% of Metropolia alumni who graduated in 2020 and responded to the survey were employed, either as employees or entrepreneurs. A high proportion were also working in positions relevant to their education: 73% of Bachelor’s graduates and 83% of Master’s graduates were working in roles corresponding to their degree.

At Metropolia, strong connections with working life are an integral part of studies through internships, projects and collaboration with companies and other organisations. The Career Monitoring Survey results indicate that graduates are able to put the competencies developed during their studies into practice in their professional careers.

Graduates Are Highly Satisfied with Their Degrees and Careers

The previous survey also showed a high level of satisfaction with degrees completed at Metropolia. 88% of Bachelor’s graduates and 92% of Master’s graduates were satisfied with their degree.

Graduates were also positive about their careers: 86% of Bachelor’s alumni and 91% of Master’s alumni reported being satisfied with their career since graduation.

Among Master’s graduates, 90% felt that their studies had increased their professional confidence, while 92% were able to apply the competencies gained during their studies in working life. In addition, 83% felt that their degree had supported their career development and salary progression.

Every Response Helps Us Develop Education

The results of the Career Monitoring Survey are used to develop education and operations at Metropolia and contribute to the nationwide evaluation of higher education institutions. The results also have an impact on the funding of universities of applied sciences, making a high response rate important and every response valuable. The information gathered through career monitoring can also be used to develop studies and career guidance.
