Interior architecture degree includes spatial, furniture and lighting design, management of design tools and methods, and knowledge of structures and materials. An interior architect strives to improve the quality of the environment and preserve its cultural values. The work of an interior architect is the creative planning of spaces and functions, and the management of interior design projects from sketches to implementation plans.
Spatial, lighting, furniture and structural design run parallel throughout the design process. The objects of interior architecture include, for example, residential, work and commercial spaces, as well as exhibition, trade fair and other public spaces. An interior architect works in cooperation with the client, the user of the space, the architect and specialist designers in the construction industry. The work requires knowledge of building legislation and building regulations. Workplaces include architectural and interior design offices, public developers, agencies, design and interior design companies, magazines or working as an independent entrepreneur.
This degree is only in Finnish. Teaching takes place in Helsinki at the Arabia Campus.
