Visualizing Energy in Community Life (ENNÄTYS)
Visual means to promote energy efficiency in properties
The Visualizing Energy in Community Life (ENNÄTYS) project aims to enhance municipalities' capabilities to make energy visible to building users and to utilize data-driven solutions to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings. This initiative allows users to influence in energy transition. Data-driven solutions, leveraging information from public buildings, are developed in close collaboration with industry companies. The goal is to develop new tools for visualizing building data, nudging users, and promote data-driven education. Simultaneously, the project aims to improve the energy efficiency activities of buildings in collaboration with users.
The project involves close cooperation with local SMEs and other companies. The goal is to replicate energy-saving nudging solutions in various types of buildings, including other public buildings and private premises. The project also provides SMEs with the opportunity to develop their own solutions in selected pilot sites. An open idea competition/hackathon will be organized for companies to propose solutions and develop their operations using real sites.
The project's goal is to impact energy consumption emissions from two directions: promoting the energy efficiency of buildings and increasing users' energy saving opportunities. However, user-implemented energy savings require behavioral changes, which the project aims to achieve by making energy consumption visible and designing ways to nudge users in the right direction. The goal is to increasingly involve building users in the city's energy efficiency work through various means.
To implement the desired data-driven solutions, available building data sources will be assessed and utilized, the necessary infrastructure for data transfer will be developed, and uniform data collection and processing will be ensured in pilot sites for tool testing.
The project partners are the City of Espoo and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, the project involves building users, local companies, and other cities, especially in the Uusimaa region.
