The way work is done and businesses are built is currently being transformed by artificial intelligence, robotics, and immersive technologies. At the Emerging Technologies and Entrepreneurship innovation hub, we turn this transformation into practice through concrete projects, pilots, and new business opportunities.

At the core of the unit are Helsinki XR Center — home of Emerging Technologies — the leading XR and emerging technologies innovation hub in the Nordics located at the Arabia Campus, and Turbiini Startup Incubator, which provides mentoring and support for early-stage teams and business ideas.

  • Helsinki XR Center

    HXRC is an incubator for talent, a cultural hub for co-creation and learning for all XR artists, entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists and students.

  • Turbiini Campus Incubator

    Turbiini is the pre-incubator of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Turbiini offers mentoring, events, and early-stage incubation programs for Metropolia students and alumni.

For Companies and Organizations

Interested in exploring how AI or XR could fit into your operations? We work with you to deliver AI Proof-of-Concept experiments, XR pilots, and development projects quickly and with a low threshold. We have experience in sectors including healthcare, construction, urban planning, industry, culture, and tourism.

For Startups

Are you developing solutions in XR, AI, or other emerging technologies? Join our Developer Hub. You will gain access to a community, state-of-the-art equipment, and inspiring facilities — as well as the people who help ideas move forward. Since 2019, more than 50 teams have been part of our hub.

As a Metropolia student or alumnus, you can also receive support for developing your own business idea through the Turbiini Startup Incubator. Hundreds of entrepreneurship-minded participants have taken part in our pre-incubator programs, and dozens of companies have been created through our activities.

Our focus is particularly on applying emerging technologies across different industries and commercializing the results. We have introduced the Unitree G1 humanoid robot and are building a research community around Physical AI. We are looking for partners and projects in this rapidly evolving field — now is the right time to get involved.
