Graduates from Metropolia UAS enjoy excellent employment outcomes – career tracking survey highlights strong competencies and high satisfaction
Alumni who have graduated from Metropolia with Bachelor’s (UAS) and Master’s degrees are well positioned in the labour market and report high levels of satisfaction with both their degree and career development. This is evidenced by the national career tracking survey of Universities of Applied Sciences, which examines the situation of graduates five years after completing their studies.
A total of 1,542 alumni who graduated from Metropolia in 2020 responded to the survey conducted at the end of 2025. The results clearly show that a higher education degree from Metropolia provides strong competencies for working life and supports career advancement.
Strong employment across multiple study fields
At Metropolia, students can pursue Bachelor’s and Master’s level degrees in culture, business, health and social services, and technology. Five years after graduation, the employment situation of Metropolia graduates is very strong. Internships, projects, and collaboration with industry during studies support the development of professional skills and facilitate the transition into working life. This is directly reflected in graduates’ high employment rates and career progression.
More than 90% of respondents are employed, either as salaried employees or entrepreneurs. Among Bachelor’s graduates, the majority work in permanent full-time positions, while only a small proportion are in fixed-term or part-time roles or self-employed. Among Master’s graduates, an even larger share are in full-time employment, and unemployment is very low in both groups.
Among Bachelor’s (UAS) graduates:
- 74% in permanent full-time employment
- 10% in fixed-term or part-time employment
- 6% self-employed
Among Master’s graduates:
- 87% in permanent full-time employment
- 5% in fixed-term or part-time employment
- 3% self-employed
Only around 3% of respondents were unemployed.
In addition, a large proportion of graduates work in roles that correspond to their education: 73% of Bachelor’s graduates and 83% of Master’s graduates. This indicates that the studies align well with labour market needs and prepare students for roles where their expertise is genuinely utilized.
High satisfaction with degree and career
Satisfaction with both degree and career is high. The majority of alumni report being satisfied with their degree from Metropolia: 88% of Bachelor’s graduates and 92% of Master’s graduates. A similarly high proportion are satisfied with their career after graduation (86% of Bachelor’s alumni and 91% of Master’s alumni).
Master’s graduates particularly emphasize increased professional confidence (90%) and the ability to directly apply the competencies acquired during their studies in working life (92%). Many also feel that their degree has supported career development and salary growth (83%).
Career tracking survey provides valuable insights for prospective students
The career tracking survey also offers valuable information for prospective students considering their educational choices and career paths. The results help illustrate the types of roles graduates move into and the opportunities different fields provide. At the same time, they reinforce graduates’ own experiences that a degree from Metropolia supports long-term career success.
Next survey in autumn 2026
The next national career tracking survey will be conducted in October–November 2026 and will invite all alumni who graduated from Metropolia in 2021 with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Responding to the survey is important, as it helps develop education to better meet labour market needs and supports future students in their career decisions. The survey also impacts the funding of Universities of Applied Sciences.
