Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Ltd initiates change negotiations concerning part of its staff. The decision to initiate the negotiations was made by Metropolia’s Board of Directors at its meeting on 4 February 2026. The negotiations concern part of Metropolia’s specialist and support staff.

“The negotiations are based on the need to improve the profitability and cost-effectiveness of Metropolia’s research, development and innovation activities. To enhance performance, we must ensure that our activities, resourcing and task structures better support profitability, growth and Metropolia’s ability to respond to a changing funding environment,” says Riitta Konkola, President, CEO of Metropolia.

The change negotiations will begin on 12 February 2026 and will initially last three weeks. The negotiations will address the operational and organisational changes being considered by the employer.

According to Metropolia’s current estimate, any potential redundancies could affect up to 47 employees. In addition, the duties of up to 40 employees may change substantially.

Metropolia aims to make decisions on any possible measures soon after the negotiations have been concluded.
