Content

• Advanced level of clinical nursing and roles of advance clinical practitioners in various settings
• Professional judgement and non-medical clinical decision making at advanced level of nursing
• Professional communication at advanced level of practice in multiprofessional teams and with patients/client/others
• Ethical and legal issues underpinning different patient and clinical assessments and advanced clinical roles.


Learning objectives

• The student is able to synthetize and apply clinical knowledge into advanced level of practice relevant to their role.
• The student is able to develop understanding of systematic clinical and other care assessments and demonstrates capability to analyze manifold and complex assessment data in different conditions in various settings.
• The student is able to justify clinical decisions and collaborate within multiprofessional teams within their scope of practice.
• The student is able to demonstrate understanding of the role of an advanced practice nursing in their own field of expertise.


Teaching methods

The course is held partly online including activating lectures and independent written assignments.
Course contains contact teaching on campus (see dates in OMA schedule)

Evaluation criteria

Completion Criteria
To pass the course, the student must successfully complete the learning assignments as described in the course description. The assignments are assessed using a specific evaluation matrix aligned with the learning outcomes.

Assessment Criteria Framework
Assessment Criteria – Satisfactory, Very Satisfactory (Grades 1–2)
The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the course content in the assessment areas. However, there are shortcomings in independent information retrieval, interpretation, and the ability to connect learned knowledge to the context of working life.

Assessment Criteria – Good, Very Good (Grades 3–4)
The student demonstrates a solid understanding of the course content in the assessment areas. They actively seek out information and are able to interpret its relevance to working life. They can analyze what they have learned and apply it effectively in professional contexts.

Assessment Criteria – Excellent (Grade 5)
The student demonstrates a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the course content across the assessment areas. They show excellent, purposeful information retrieval skills and make independent, responsible decisions, with the ability to guide others. Their application of learning to working life demonstrates creativity and a broad perspective.

Pass/Fail Assessment Criterion
The criteria for a passing grade are equivalent to the criteria for a satisfactory (Grade 1) assessment, indicating that core competence has been achieved.
