Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students

Those, who are required to pay the tuition fee, must pay the tuition fee by the deadline. The deadline of the payment of the tuition fee is two weeks (14 days) from the date on which the student accepts the study place.

Please note: If you do not pay the tuition fee or deliver a document exempting you from the tuition fee by the given deadline, you will lose your study entitlement.

If you are later able to pay the tuition fee or receive the document exempting you from the tuition fee, you may apply for the restoration of the study entitlement online in Metropolia Web payment service. Statutory application fee EUR 50.

The tuition fee is to be paid using the Flywire service portal. No invoice will be sent.

Flywire is an easy-to-use payment solution that provides international students with a streamlined payment experience, saving time and money.

Admission services will send you the link to Flywire service for the payment after the student selection has been published.

Please note:

• Metropolia UAS does not accept other payment methods, for example cash payments.
• The tuition fees does not include possible bank service or Flywire´s charges. Ask your bank or Flywire about the charges.

Studies start in autumn term

Students whose study entitlement begins in the autumn term must pay the annual tuition fee for the whole academic year, in one instalment. The tuition fee must be paid as a single payment. Academic year is 1 August - 31 July.

Studies start in spring term

Students whose study entitlement begins in the spring term (1 January - 31 July) are required to pay the tuition fee for the spring term. The tuition fee for the next academic term must be paid in May when registering for the academic year. For more information, please visit on Metropolia´s Student’s Guide.

Early Bird discount

The Early Bird discount is applied to the student’s second term of their first study year. New students who are eligible for the Early Bird discount and whose study entitlement begin:

1. in the autumn term must pay the full academic year tuition fee at once and deduct the Early Bird discount from the total amount of the tuition fee.
2. in the spring term must pay the spring term tuition fee in full, and the discount is deducted from the tuition fee for the following academic term (autumn term).

Students who have been granted a study place, and have accepted it by the deadline stated on the decision to grant the study place, must pay the tuition fee by the due date. The due date of the tuition fee is two weeks (14 days) from the date on which the student accepts the study place. Once the student has paid the tuition fee, they will be registered as attending for the entire academic year.

If the planned study period is shorter than the academic year, the student pays the tuition fee one academic term at a time.

If the student registers as non-attending in the spring of the first academic year (this is only possible for reasons provided in the law), the student can pay the tuition fee for one academic term at a time.

The tuition fee for the years following the first year is paid separately for each academic term.

The tuition fee for the autumn term (1 August–31 December) must be paid in advance during the previous academic term during the general period for registering for the next academic year, which is 1–31 May. Once the student has paid the tuition fee, they will be registered as attending for the entire academic year.

The tuition fee for the spring term (1 January–31 July) must be paid in advance between 15 November and 15 December.

1.3 The student must pay the tuition fee even if they have a pending application for a residence permit that would exempt them from the tuition fee.

1.4 If the student has a residence permit exempting them from the tuition fee, the document proving this must be delivered by the payment due date.

1.5 The payment obligation concerns all the academic terms during which the student is registered as attending.

1.6 If the student does not pay the tuition fee by the deadline set by Metropolia and does not register as non-attending, they will automatically be recorded as resigned and they will lose their right to study. The student may apply for the right to study to be regranted. A fee of 50 euros will be charged for processing the application.

2.1

Metropolia will refund the tuition fee following an application by the student if the student is not granted a residence permit. In this case, the student will be recorded as resigned as of the date on which they have provided Metropolia with the negative residence permit decision. If the student cancels the residence permit application process on their own initiative, the tuition fee will not be refunded.

If the studies for which the student has been accepted have already begun as distance teaching and the student has enrolled for the courses in question, Metropolia has the right to deduct a fee of 1,500 euros from the amount of the tuition fee to be refunded.

2.2

If the student is granted a residence permit that exempts them from the tuition fee, and this residence permit becomes valid retroactively, Metropolia will refund the tuition fee for the academic terms which started (on 1 January or 1 August) after the residence permit became valid. The student must submit an application for the refund.

2.3

The tuition fee will be refunded if Metropolia has to cancel the student selection for a reason related to Metropolia.

2.4

If a student has accepted a study place and registered as attending and they declare before the start of the next academic term (by 31 July or 31 December) that they will not start/continue their studies, Metropolia will refund the tuition fee for the academic year/term that the student has paid.

The student must submit an application for the refund. If the student resigns after the start of the academic year or academic term, the tuition fee will not be refunded.

2.5

In all refunds of tuition fees, Metropolia will charge the student an administrative processing fee of 250 euros, which will be deducted from the amount refunded.

However, the processing fee will not be charged if the student is charged the amount stated in the second paragraph of section 2.1 above.
