AURI2027

New EPBD-Compliant Solar Energy and Energy Flexibility Solutions for Public Buildings

AURI2027 – Sustainable Energy for Public Buildings

AURI2027 is a nationwide development project aimed at promoting the adoption of solar energy and energy flexibility solutions in public buildings. The project supports municipalities and other public-sector actors in meeting the requirements of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and achieving their own carbon neutrality targets.

The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and its implementation period is from April 1, 2025 to July 31, 2027.

Knowledge, Tools and Practical Solutions

The project develops methods and practical tools to assess the solar energy potential of buildings, plan investments, and make flexible use of energy. Outcomes include a browser-based assessment tool, new energy service models for SMEs, and concrete pilot projects to test new solutions in practice.

AURI2027 is built on extensive cooperation between municipalities, universities of applied sciences, and energy-sector SMEs. The project brings these actors together through workshops and market dialogues to co-develop services tailored to public sector needs. At the same time, companies enhance their expertise and offerings, and municipalities gain better opportunities to make impactful and resource-wise energy decisions.

Nationwide Implementation

The project is coordinated by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Other implementing partners are LAB University of Applied Sciences, Karelia University of Applied Sciences, and Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

AURI2027 supports public-sector actors in preparing for new EU requirements and in promoting long-term energy efficiency. The tools, models, and analyses produced within the project offer practical support for municipal decision-making. All results will be published openly and will remain available for use after the project ends as part of local planning and development in the energy sector.
