Talent Helsinki 2022 - 2023 Project

Objectives

The objective on the Talent Helsinki 2022 - 2023 project was to attract foreign experts and entrepreneurs and key people working in various fields to Helsinki, especially in the field of labor shortages, and to facilitate the establishment and integration into the labor market of international experts and their families already in the region.

The project was functionally and thematically divided into three different sections:

  1. attracting international experts,
  2. support for international recruitment and establishment; and
  3. support for the employment of international professionals (especially international degree students).

The main goal of the third section was to strengthen the working life connections of international degree students studying especially at universities in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and to further develop employment-supporting operating models in cooperation between companies, the city and educational organizations.

The aim was that by the end of the project, the International Talent Program, which will enhance the employment of international students, has been introduced in the largest universities in the Helsinki metropolitan area. In addition, international students are better networked with companies in the region, know the actors in the innovation ecosystem, and have a clear understanding of the services that support employment in the region. University co-operation in the Helsinki metropolitan area was developed together with the cities of Espoo and Vantaa.

Metropolia was a one implementer of the project coordinated by the City of Helsinki. For 3UAS (Metropolia, Laurea, Haaga-Helia), the measures are aimed at creating and piloting a mentoring model for international degree students.
