Who is it for?

For you who

  • work in the development, manufacturing, marketing, procurement, service, quality, operation and maintenance processes of health technology.
  • want to learn about the concepts and processes of health and well-being technology assessment
  • are interested in knowing what to consider when evaluating digital, artificial intelligence and robotics-based solutions
  • want to network with industry players during the study process
  • are not currently in education leading to a degree
  • reside in Finland (no demand of Finnish nationality) and work in an organisation operating in Finnish context

Objectives

After the training, you will have strengthened

  • your understanding of the role of systematic reviews as part of health and wellbeing technology assessment
  • your ability to understand concepts of health and wellbeing technology assessment and analyze associated processes
  • your understanding of the rapidly evolving operating environments of health technology assessment from a national and international perspective
  • your ability to take into account the special features of digital, robotics and artificial intelligence-based health and welfare technology and know how to choose appropriate assessment models for them

Date and method

The education is implemented as online studies in Moodle. You will receive instructions for studying after registering.

You can study independently according to your own schedule. The courses have some online meetings. In the online meetings, you can receive guidance from the course teachers and guidance experts and network with other students in the course. We aim to record the common parts of the meetings.

During the studies, you will receive real-time guidance and feedback on the progress of your studies.

English language courses will be implemented between March 2026 and December 2026.

Student guidance

  • Guidance is carried out through resource- and solution-focused group coaching sessions (HTA clinics), which support your learning and professional growth.
  • Group guidance strengthens learning skills, identifies challenges and offers pedagogical support.
  • Students have the opportunity to participate in clinic-like group meetings, where they reflect on what they have learned and apply HTA themes in practice.
  • In addition, you have access to the services of a Metropolia study counselor who will help you with your studies and career planning.

The courses are free for students.

Enrollment

You can enroll the courses via Metropolia Open UAS enrollment system after the courses are published.

Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Individuals who are currently enrolled in a degree program cannot register for the course.

The training has been funded by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE). The Service Centre promotes the competence development of working-age people and the availability of skilled labour. The operations of the Service Centre are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
