Major in the Degree Programme in Design (Bachelor of Culture and Arts)
In this major, students learn to produce 2D/3D animations, motion graphics, and film effects for diverse content production and technical implementation. The studies cover animation and motion graphics for advertising, product presentations and events, as well as post-production of live-action video, digital special effects, and virtual set design.
The programme provides students with strong technical skills as well as an understanding of the responsibilities related to motion graphics, including questions of sustainability in visual communication. Students also develop commercial awareness, presentation skills, and the ability to work under pressure – essential skills for industry projects. The studies encourage students to become future-oriented problem solvers, ready to create creative, responsible, and innovative solutions for the evolving motion graphics field.
Graduates earn the title of Bachelor of Culture and Arts (Design) and are equipped to work as designers in a variety of visual content and communication roles – for example in video and animation production companies, film and TV productions, game and software companies, advertising and design agencies, web content production, virtual production studios, and corporate marketing teams. Typical job titles include Motion Designer or Animator, Illustrator/Concept Artist, Game Designer or Graphic Designer, Live Visual Designer, VJ, 3D Artist, VFX Artist, Virtual Production Artist, and Post-Production Editor.
This major is taught mainly in Finnish and is available as full-time daytime studies. Teaching takes place in Helsinki at the Arabia Campus.
