Opportunities for Using Virtual Reality in Export Activities course provides an introduction to extended reality (XR) technologies and examines ways to use them to support export activities. Participants will explore key concepts, review practical examples, and gain hands-on experience with XR solutions.

Please note, that full-time students will not be accepted to the course.

The course includes a visit to Helsinki XR Center (Hämeentie 135 A, 3rd floor, 00560 Helsinki) on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Course content

The course covers the basics of XR technologies and the equipment related to them. These fundamentals are deepened by examining case examples that demonstrate the various ways in which these technologies can support export work.

As part of the course, participants will learn how to design technological solutions using a user-centered approach, and will complete a small practical exercise based on this. During the course, participants will also have the opportunity to try out different XR devices and experiences in the Helsinki XR Center showroom.

Learning objectives

Participants in the course will understand the basics of XR technologies as well as the related technological equipment and requirements. They will learn the fundamentals of the potential of these technologies in export work and how to begin designing such solutions.


Evaluation criteria

- Participation in workshop-based instruction
- Completion of the written planning assignment with an approved result

The course is offered as part of the project Vihreän teknologian vientiosaamista digitaalisesti (ViViD). The ViViD project's goal is to promote technical and economic expertise related to the green transition in Finland's export sectors. The aim is to enhance commercial and technical export business skills in the energy sector by offering short, work-life-oriented online courses.


Vihreän teknologian vientiosaamista digitaalisesti project has been funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), which is the key instrument of the EU's Recovery Facility (NextGenerationEU). The financing has been granted by the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment (SECLE). The Service Centre promotes the competence development of working-age people and the availability of skilled labour. The operations of the Service Centre are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
