The first semester starts in Shanghai: a new joint-institute for engineering

Metropolia UAS and Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University opened a new joint-institute for engineering education, Smart Construction and Food Technologies.

The opening ceremony was held on the 13th of October, and the keynote speakers emphasized the shared vision of solution driven and student centered Metropolia pedagogy. Also, the student representative raised up the importance of clean technology and sustainability in their studies.

The Shanghai Zhongqiao Helsinki School of Future Engineering is the first one of private universities in China. The collaboration involves a dual degree program – the Shanghai Zhongqiao Helsinki School of Future Engineering – which represents the highest and most demanding category of educational cooperation in the Chinese higher education sector.

- We look forward to deepening cooperation that supports the internationalization of students and faculties. Shanghai is the heart of business in China and that’s the perfect strategic location for the joint-institute, describes President, CEO Riitta Konkola.
