The January joint application has closed – 6,548 applications to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes

The January joint application period for English-taught higher education programmes in Finland ended on Wednesday 21 January 2026 at 3:00 PM. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences – Finland’s largest university of applied sciences – once again attracted strong interest in its English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes both in Finland and internationally.

We received a total of 6,548 applications, of which 1,842 were first-choice applications. In total, 969 study places were available in this application round: 604 in Bachelor’s programmes and 365 in Master’s programmes. Compared to the previous year, the number of applications increased by 362.

In Metropolia’s English-taught programmes in culture, business, social services and health care, and technology, students build their expertise through a practical, hands-on approach and develop strong skills for working life. In addition, the international learning environment strengthens students’ language skills, networks, and readiness to work in multicultural settings.

Among the Bachelor’s programmes, Nursing attracted the highest number of applications

A total of 5,174 applications were submitted to Metropolia’s Bachelor’s programmes, of which 1,341 were first-choice applications. In total, 604 study places were available in Bachelor’s-level programmes. Studies are offered as full-time daytime studies as well as in flexible blended formats that combine online and on-campus learning.

The most popular programme was Nursing, with 797 applications, followed by Information Technology with 602 applications. The third highest number of applications, 524, was received by International Business and Logistics.

Master’s programmes for working professionals attracted 1,374 applications

A total of 1,374 applications were submitted to Metropolia’s English-taught Master’s programmes (UAS Master’s degrees), of which 501 were first-choice applications. In total, 365 study places were available in Master’s-level programmes.

Our English-taught Master’s programmes are designed for professionals already working in the field who want to deepen their expertise and advance their careers. These studies can be completed alongside work and emphasise a practical approach, development-oriented learning, and working-life-based projects.

The three most popular Master’s programmes based on the number of applications were Business Informatics (202), Advanced Practice Nursing (148) and Information Technology, Networking and Services (145).

The second spring joint application for Finnish-taught programmes begins in March

The joint application for Metropolia’s Finnish-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes will take place in the second spring joint application round from 10 to 24 March 2026.

A total of 57 Bachelor’s programmes and 24 Master’s programmes will be available in the fields of culture, business, social services and health care, and technology.
