The Producer Center Living Lab

Between 2024 and 2026, the Producer Center Living Lab project will establish a national network of producer centers, along with its operational and organizational model. The project develops the functioning of the producer network in the arts and culture sector by supporting professional networking among producers and intermediaries, and by promoting the development of regional cooperation. The project directly enhances the accessibility of producer services and the operational conditions of the arts and culture sector, and indirectly promotes employment for professionals in the field—especially freelancers.

Metropolia's Role in the Network

Metropolia’s role is to support, in particular, the piloting of the producer network’s activities in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The target group includes producers and individuals working in producer-like roles within the music sector—whether in the independent field, in various organizations, or in municipalities. The target group also includes public and private sector organizations that require production expertise, as well as students who are about to graduate and are in transition into working life.

Objectives and activities

The project includes expert support and mentoring for producers in the arts and culture field, as well as work-based professional development. These are provided through:

  • Workshop series
  • Training days
  • Work supervision
  • Mentoring training and mentoring activities

In addition, the project supports professional networking and regional as well as national cooperation. These efforts are promoted through:

  • Producer network meetings
  • Producer coffee events
  • A facilitator’s guide for the network
  • An online platform for the producer center network, where producer-related expertise, tools, professionals, and service seekers can meet
