Supporting Immigrants in Business Administration Careers
Do you have a higher education degree in business administration or economics and are looking for a job in HR or marketing?
During the academic year 2025–2026, we will offer two business administration training programs for immigrants as part of the project "Language-supported competence paths for the labour shortage sectors of immigrants in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area". The trainings in business administration are focusing on human resource management (HR) and marketing. This webpage focuses on the marketing training program provided by Metropolia UAS. Read more about the training in human resource management (HR).

Language-Supported Training in Marketing for Immigrants
We offer a free training program in business administration focusing on Marketing in the spring semester 2026.
The training program is designed for Finnish language learners at an intermediate level (B1), and you will study in Finnish. The training follows the model of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences' previous Career Boost programs. Learn more about Metropolia’s Career Boost in Financial Management on our website.
What are the goals of the Marketing Training?
- Learn new, in-demand skills in the field of marketing and business administration
- Improve your Finnish language skills from level B1 to level B2
- Make it easier for you to find work in your field in Finland
Please note that these programs do not lead to a higher education degree. The idea is to develop your skills and support you in finding work in the field of business administration.

What
Supplementary marketing training for immigrants. The program is worth 40 ECTS credits, including 30 ECTS of business administration courses focusing on Marketing and 10 ECTS of Finnish as a Second Language (S2) courses. You will also get personal career guidance to support you in marketing your skills in job search.
You will study approximately 8-10 credits per month.
When
January–May 2026.
Where
Classes are held on-site at Metropolia's Myyrmäki campus in Vantaa. Some lessons may be delivered online. Classes are scheduled on weekdays (Monday to Friday) between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The training also includes some independent studying besides classes.
Who Can Apply
If you are an immigrant with:
- at least intermediate Finnish language skills (B1). All studies in the training will be conducted in Finnish, so it is not possible to participate without intermediate Finnish skills. You do not need to provide a National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI) test result or similar to prove your language skills, but your language skills will be tested during the student selection process.
a higher education degree or studies in business administration, economics, or a related field (e.g., social sciences), you are eligible to apply. You can also apply, if your study background is in some other academic field, especially if you have relevant work experience in the field of marketing and/or business administration. Your previous studies may have been conducted in Finland or abroad. You need to provide a certificate of your degree or higher education studies in Finnish, Swedish or English.
Both employed and unemployed individuals can apply. If you are a jobseeker, please consult with employment services as early as possible before submitting your application. Please note that you might not be eligible for student financial aid (opintotuki) from Kela during this training.

Additional application period has ended on December 1, 2025. The student selection process took place at Metropolia’s Myyrmäki campus in Vantaa, on Friday 5 December.

Marketing Training for Immigrants (40 ECTS) includes courses
The student understands the role of marketing and services in the company strategy and the important role of customer-oriented marketing as a success factor in running a business. The student recognizes the essential concepts and various sectors of marketing and the key terminology. The student is able to collect, analyse and produce information as well as make development suggestions for the company’s planning process.

After completing the course, students will understand the importance of services and customer experience in developing business-oriented service solutions and building societal well-being. The student understands the theories of consumer behaviour as part of improving the customer experience and can describe the existing service path from the user's perspective.
The student will be able to identify development needs, conceptualise and design user-centred solutions, and describe service concepts that support the set objectives.

After completing the course the student will be able to develop and implement marketing communications for the company.

After completing the course the student can use different applications and services used for creating both online and offline communication elements as well as format picture files with an image editing software.

After completing the course, the student will understand the importance of using analytics in data-driven marketing.
The student will be able to analyse company operations and customer relationships based on information from various sources.
The student will be able to plan marketing activities based on analytics data. The student learns the ways companies build, develop, plan and implement lead management processes and develop conversion rates. The student understands the role of customer journeys and business processes for competitive advantage. The course is based on learning how to use marketing automation solutions as well as other marketing tools for planning and implementation of lead management and conversion processes.

Upon completion of the course students will be able to carry out small-scale quantitative and qualitative marketing studies and will be able to assess the reliability of research data and purchase marketing studies.The student will be able to be familiar with the basic statistical analysis methods of quantitative research data and be able to interpret the results and present them in a graphic form.

After completing the course, students will be familiar with the key concepts of marketing and recognize the various concepts used in marketing. Students will be able to read and summarize popular and scientific texts related to marketing in their own words and use them as sources in language-supported marketing courses. Students will be able to report orally and in writing. Students will practice producing marketing communications in Finnish in various situations.
During the course, students will strengthen their command of Finnish language structures and communication practices in addition to marketing-related vocabulary.

After completing the course, students will be able to report on statistics and various analyses. Students will become skilled at analyzing and identifying the reliability of information.
