Studies

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in International Business and Analytics at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences prepares students for dynamic careers in the global business environment, with a focus on international business studies and data analytics, equipping students with the skills to harness the power of data in driving business decisions and strategies.

In the first year of study, students are introduced to various aspects of business administration through basic studies. During the second and third year of studies, the students will study 45 ECTS of professional major Business Analytics. Additionally, students can choose courses related to other business fields as elective courses from e.g. finance, marketing, supply chain management, human resource and strategic management. The international students will study at least 20 ECTS of Finnish language according to their study plan. It is possible that part of the studies will be arranged bilingually (Finnish-English).

Please note that the degree is planned to be completed in 3,5 years. In practice completing the degree takes minimum 3 years. During this time, you need to be present each semester.

Programme Structure

The programme spans over three and a half years, integrating business studies with specialized courses in analytics. You will earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree upon completion, with a total of 210 ECTS credits.

    The transfer application is aimed at all students enrolled in studies leading to a Finnish higher education degree and:

    • who wish to transfer their study rights from one Finnish higher education institution to Metropolia so that the degree title remains the same or changes
      OR
    • who wish to transfer their study rights within Metropolia from one degree programme to another, so that the degree title changes.

    Students transferring within Metropolia in such a way that the degree title remains the same, are not considered as "transfer students" and have their own separate application procedure available on Metropolia's Students' Guide. Please note that it is not possible to transfer from abroad.

    Students applying for a transfer should note that their maximum study period or the period for which they are entitled to receive student financial aid will not be extended due to the transfer. The maximum study period is calculated from the date on which the student accepted the study place in the previous higher education institution.

    The Application on the Basis of Finnish Higher Education Studies is aimed at those who have completed higher education studies in Finland. Studies are taken into account regardless of whether they have been completed as open studies or in education leading to a degree, or whether the right to study is valid or has expired.

    Application period: 1 November 2025 8:00 am - 30 April 2026, all times refer to local time in Finland.

    In flexible admission (i.e. rolling admission) the study places are filled in the order in which applications are received, so that all applicants who meet all the student selection requirements are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the application ends or the study places are filled.

    Note: Many degree programmes accept applications on a continuous basis. However, applicants who are required to pay tuition fees should carefully consider the timing of their application. In most cases, it is not advisable to begin studies in the middle of a term (either autumn or spring), as tuition fees cannot be paid for only part of the term. For this reason, it is generally best to apply well in advance of the start of the term, so that studies can commence from the very beginning.

    The Separate Application for International Degree Programmes is aimed at those applying on the basis of GMAT/GRE test, SAT/ACT test, the Edunation Pathway Diploma or a credit transfer -based student selection for an education leading to a higher education degree in English. Application period for studies starting in autumn 2026 starts on 1 December 2025 08:00 am (local time in Finland).

The below information applies to students who have been accepted to study for a full degree at Metropolia. Make sure to complete all the steps in order to secure your study place.

Starting IBA studies

Congratulations - we are happy that you have chosen to join us at Metropolia Business School!

You have been accepted to the International Business and Analytics (IBA) Programme! Your program code is LXE25S1. Below you can find more information about the programme.

Providing that you satisfactorily meet the degree requirements, you will be awarded the following upon graduation:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences

If you decide to apply for a double degree programme, which allows you to gain two degrees, one in Metropolia and another in one of our double degree partner universities in Europe, then you will also be awarded the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a partner university (the exact title depends on which partner’s double degree programme you will follow during the 3rd year of studies)

The degree program is a 210 ECTS scope program (some partners require 240 ECTS) and the study right is 3.5 years. The studies are conducted at Metropolia Myyrmäki Campus, Leiritie 1 Vantaa. If you do the double degree, the 3 first semesters of the studies are conducted at Metropolia Myyrmäki Campus, Leiritie 1 Vantaa, and the third year is conducted at one of the partner universities. In your third year, you will study full-time at one of our partner universities for which you will be selected during your second year of studies. Please remember that you can do either; one single degree or double degree.

Orientation days and the start of studies

The studies will start with orientation days on Thursday 21st August at 9 a.m. During the orientation days 21.8. and 22.8., we get to know different practical aspects of the studies. Your presence at the orientation days is essential. You can expect the orientation days to be over at 16:00 at the latest. In the evenings there is a voluntary program organized by the tutors (more information later).

The autumn semester teaching starts on 25.8.2025 and runs until the middle of December.

The Spring semester teaching starts on 12.1.2026 and runs until the middle of May.

More details and schedules of the orientation days will be sent by email to all new students by the end of week 33. Then as well everyone will receive the schedules of the autumn semester.
