Begin your academic journey in Finland with the Metropolia Tech Pathway (30 ECTS), specifically designed for international students planning to complete their bachelor’s degree in Metropolia in the field of technology in Finland.
This online pathway offers an exceptional opportunity to delve into the world of technology and to seize the chance to be part of a dynamic, global student community, and lay a solid foundation for your academic and professional future in the field of technology in Finland in any of the below mentioned international degree programmes in Metropolia UAS.
When submitting your application for the pathway studies, you will select your preferred degree program. Please note that once your application is submitted, changes to this selection are not be possible.
Pathway studies will be conducted fully online and successfully completed studies by the given deadline will grant you a study place in the degree programme, which you have chosen. The credits gained during the pathway program will be credited as part of your degree in full extent in most of the degree programmes to fasten your study time.
Admission period: May 1st, 2024 (delayed)- June 30th, 2024.
Pathway studies during October 21st, 2024 - March 16th, 2025.

You must hold a foreign qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in your home country.

2. Instead of English proficiency test applicant can also provide SAT result with the following scores: 400 for Evidence Based Reading and Writing section and 400 for Math section
NOTE: When using an English language test result (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Cambridge, or SAT) for proving English language skills, certificates printed or delivered by the applicants themselves are not taken into account but the results must be sent to Metropolia electronically by the test organizer and available/verifiable as described above. Metropolia's TOEFL code is 3804.

Each course is 5 ECTS credits, altogether pathway studies are 30 ECTS (1 ECTS is 27 hours of work). Courses will be assessed as passed or failed.
Pathway studies will consist of the following online courses conducted by the lecturers of the international degree programmes in Metropolia.
Upon course completion, students will be proficient in simplifying expressions, equations, and systems of equations for future applications. They will understand complex numbers and their practical uses. Additionally, they will acquire the skill to effectively utilize vectors in their academic pursuits.
The student will learn to enhance their professional proficiency in English and to use appropriate register in working life and academic situations. The student will gain an understanding of writing formal texts in English and how to cite references, as well as creating reference lists. The student will learn to write topical and formal texts and develop their overall professional English language skills.
The course covers an introduction to Python language, basics of Python and topics such as functions, modules and structures in object-oriented programming. After the course students have gained the ability to write and maintain Python scripts and develop Python based programs.
On completion of the course, the student will understand simple and clearly spoken Finnish in very familiar everyday situations. The student will be able to tell briefly about his/her background, home and daily routines and understand short texts about familiar topics. The student’s communication skills will correspond to the skill level A1 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF).
After completing a course, students have learned what are the basic techniques to manifest artificial intelligence using Python Programming Language in practice.
