How to start Electronics path studies

Welcome to study Metropolia's Open UAS in Electronics path studies! You will study the first year studies with the degree students of Electronics in a study group TXD24S1. Read more about Electronics degree.

Commencing your studies

Your studies will begin with an orientation day in August (week 33).Orientation will be held at Metropolia’s Myyrmäki campus (Address: Leiritie 1, 01600 Vantaa).

During orientation day you will receive essential information and advice concerning your studies in Metropolia. The day will also be a good opportunity for you to meet your fellow students, student tutors and staff members.Tuition will start according to the schedules on Monday 19 August 2024.

User ID

When you start as a new student at Metropolia, you need to activate your user ID. Activate your user ID by using Netbank User ID or Mobile Certificate, or by using activation password. See instructions how to activate you user ID. If you have enrolled for Open UAS studies without using strong identification, you must visit the Student and Admission Services customer service point for strong identification. Only after that, you can activate your user ID.

Schedule

You will receive your study schedules at the beginning of the studies. You can use the Schedule Machine to see the up-to-date schedules. You can also check the schedules in Tuudo app. Open UAS students do not enrol for the courses themselves but you have already been registered for the courses.

Communications

Communications concerning your studies takes place in OMA workspaces and in your Metropolia e-mail, which you can use once you activate your user account. Please follow actively your metropolia.fi email! You can access your e-mail at mail.metropolia.fi. Lecturers mostly send their messages through the courses' OMA workspaces. If other learning management platforms are used, such as Moodle, the lecturer will inform you of this. Please also read the general announcements on Metropolia's OMA-intranet.

Meal benefit for Open path students

Metropolia has arranged a separate meal benefit for Open Path students because Open UAS students are not entitled to the degree students’ meal subsidy. The meal benefit is not applicable at Hämeentie 135 D campus. Tuudo mobile app’s student card or meal certificate, which you can either pick up at the Student and Admission Services customer service point or order by e-mail from studentservices [at] metropolia.fi (studentservices[at]metropolia[dot]fi) at the beginning of your studies, entitles to a meal benefit. The price of the meal is restaurant-specific.

Invoicing

If you have selected invoicing as the payment method for your studies, the studies will be invoiced in two installments. The first invoice is sent at the beginning of the studies and the second invoice in the middle of the studies. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) during the Open UAS studies

Direct recognition of prior learning is not possible at the Open UAS. Instead, studies are recognized using pedagogic solutions, in which case the student demonstrates his or her competence in the manner specified by the lecturer. RPL process does not entitle to a refund of fees.

Other studies

If you wish to complete other studies in addition to those in your study path or module, you can enroll for the Open UAS courses in the enrollment system. Please make sure that your additional studies do not overlap with the studies included in the path or module. Path students are also entitled to complete some of the CampusOnline.fi courses offered by other universities of applied sciences.

Applying for a degree programme

After completing Open UAS path studies (first year studies), you can apply for a degree programme on the basis of Metropolia’s Open UAS Studies. You will be able to apply on the basis of open UAS studies in May 2025.
